TGAW Winter Fayre

Image
Yes! It's finally (or not?) this time of the year! Christmas is coming up and as always the TGAW SAS Winter Fate has happend on the 25th of November. For the unfamiliar the fate raises money for charity, this year we selected Papyrus MS Society and Variety, and the fate includes a mix of SAS group stalls, college stalls and standard school stalls.   Papyrus claims: " Suicide is the biggest killer of young people – male   and  female – under 35 in the UK  2015, 1,659 young people took their own lives. That equates to over four per day. Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling." and they aim to prevent suicide via their help line and web chat. They have put together this video to explain what they do: The MS Society claims they are a " a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, volunteers and fundraisers." and they aim to provide mo

Anti-bullying week!

T his week  is   anti-bullying week.   TGAW tries there complete hardest to encourage no bullying. As a school we all believe that bullying should not be allowed and should be stopped. No matter how hard we try and if we don’t succeed we as a school  wil l  work together  to  accomplish  o ur  goals , you can talk to your tutor, any teacher, a responsible adult and we  even have a wellbeing drop in the mentor room lunch and break.   U nfortunately, anti-bullying week is coming to an end but I hope that after anti-bullying week we will all stay as kind and friendly to  each other  like normal!   Just remember: is it true, is it  necessary , is it kind.

SAS Authors

Recently in SAS authors we had a lovely group (Class) of year 3 from Hollymount primary school and they were such a delight! They quietly came in ready for a day of fun and excitement! We spent half of the day with them as our SAS, we read books and took interviews to see what they like in books! With a variety of different ideas we all managed – in our little groups- to have a massive brainstorm on what books they wanted us as representatives from TGAW to create for them! With a bunch of different creative ideas I hope that my group and I will find a story line that interests them all! We are starting from scratch with only there ideas and our data we collected from them! I really enjoy SAS authors and I really recommend this for the next time you put down your options! This goes without needing to say but I think everyone needs to thank Miss Dawson who created this all. None of this would be possible without her full attention and commitment to  SAS Authors INC! Thank you!

Mock Election

Image
As part of the D in the Tudor Values we had a mock election on Thursday 8th of June. In tutor you were given a voting slip and the chance to vote or not vote. You can see the table below of the results: Quite an impressive turn out with 99% of the school voting! Labour takes the top spot with 389 votes VS runner up Conservative with 131 votes, that's a 258 vote difference! Our results are also very different to Worcester's official results, which only has a 69.73% turnout! The official Worcester results puts the Conservatives at top spot with 24,731 votes and Labour second place with 22,223 votes.

IZB Regional Tornament

Image
Today the TGAW basketball team went to the IZB Regional Tournament. We brought 12 people and separated ourselves between 2 teams, TGAW 1 and TGAW 2 (No difference between the ability of the team) and got separated between 2 pools, A and B. TGAW 1 in A and TGAW 2 in B. I was in TGAW 1. Both of the team thrashed all the teams in both pools by about 12 points! Then came the semi finales, 1st in pool A played 2nd in B and vise versa. Both of the TGAW teams were first! Both teams powered through the semi-finals. The our opponents put up a good fight. Then came the finals! TGAW vs TGAW! The ultimate game! The game was tight, TGAW 1 had placed there players poorly so TGAW 2 had the advantage. It was close. TGAW 1 scored 2 points, but TGAW 2 scored 6 in the first half! The second half was close, both teams trying there hardest to win! It was especially tight in the last minute, TGAW 1 kept shooting but kept missing! The whistle blew. The final score was 2-8 to them. We wer

STEM Week

Image
So this week was STEM week! STEM stands for Science Technology Engineering and Maths, we have a full week of doing activities around STEM. We did a day around crystal maze! We had to complete activities such as: Spot the difference, Building a bridge to hold books, Building a tower out of pasta and marshmallows, seeing if a paperclip will float, drawing shapes while blindfolded, logic challenges and finally in teams to try and get an inflatable whale across the room and not being able to touch the floor. As you may know afterwards you go in a dome to collect golden tickets, I ( Immy ) didn't go in the dome but Louis did. "It looked crazy! There were lots of golden and silver tickets flying around. In the TV show the gold gains points and the silver removes points, however it didn't matter in this game. It was really hard to catch the tickets; you'd catch one then it would fly away. Or one would get stuck in your hair and it would fly out when you tried to

2016 - It Sucked... Mostly

Image
What a year! We said goodbye to an era of idols - David Bowie, Prince, Carrie Fisher and her mum! Let's start with David Bowie, the creator of hits like Space Oddity. David was born in Brixton in South London on January 8, 1947. His first hit was "Space oddity" in 1969. He later wrote "Fame" with Carlos Alomar and John Lennon, which was his first American No. 1 in 1947. Next Carrie Fisher, who was Princess Leia in the 1977 movie. She was born on October 21 1956 in Los Angeles, California. Her role as Princess Leia fired her into popularity in 1977. She has also wrote a hit book 1987 called Postcards from edge. Her mum died the day after planning her funeral. Many more died too, but we just don't have enough time to list more! Others include  Sir Terry Wogan and George Micheal. Our next blog will be more optimistic, but 2016 will never be  forgotten due to so many fallen legends.
