Valentines Food :)

VALENTINES FOOD!!

Hello! As it’s almost Valentine's Day, I decided that this weeks post I will be sharing with you some recipes for some delicious Valentines-themed meals/snacks :) I hope you all enjoy and have a magnificent Valentines!

Meals

Breakfast
Heart – Shaped Egg on Toast

Why settle for ordinary eggs and toast when you can show your love with this version?
Using a 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, remove the center of a thick slice of bread, and toast it. Melt 1 1/2 teaspoons butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Place bread slice in skillet, and cook until underside is lightly browned. Add another 1 1/2 teaspoons butter, and flip bread. Fit cookie cutter, coated with cooking spray, in bread's cutout heart, and crack an egg into cutter. Cover skillet, and cook until egg is set, 2 to 3 minutes. Use tongs to remove cutter. Serve with toasted heart for dipping into yolk.
 Mmm, sounds yummy

Lunch
Heart – Shaped Tomato Soup and Sandwich

Here’s how I made it:

1 Tbsp. butter
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 small clove garlic, pressed
1/4 tsp. paprika
3 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped, plus additional leaves, chiffonade, for garnish
3 oz. softened Neufchatel cheese
3/4 cup skim milk
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 can (15 oz.) petite diced tomatoes, undrained

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion & garlic & saute about 2 minutes, until tender.
Reduce heat to low & add paprika, basil, & cream cheese. Gradually stir in milk & soup & stir until smooth.
Turn heat back up to medium & add tomatoes, stirring constantly & breaking up tomatoes further by squashing them with the back of a wooden spoon, until hot.
Serve with heart-shaped grilled cheese sandwiches!

Dinner/Supper
Heart – Shaped Pepperoni Pizza

And there it is. Papa John's is once again offering its heart-shaped Valentine's Day pizza. When Slice ordered it online earlier this afternoon it was part of a special: $14.99 for a one-topping, thin-crust heart-shaped pizza and a Cinnapie (prices may vary in your area). Note that the heart-shaped pizza is only available with PJ's thin crust. SPECIAL DELIVERY !!

Snacks

Stick a heart on one end of the pretzel to represent the arrow tip.
Cut the top off the other heart to represent the feathers.
Stick that heart on the other end of the pretzel. EASY!

Ombré Nutella Cups

1/2 cup Nutella
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1-1/2 tbsp milk
red candy melts
pink candy melts
white candy melts
1. Line a mini muffin tin with mini cupcake liners. Set aside.
2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together Nutella and powdered sugar. Stir in vanilla extract. Add milk slowly until you get a consistency that you can work with your fingers and roll into balls. (At this point, you can add more powdered sugar or milk to get your desired consistency. I made a more wet mixture for a creamy filling but it was more difficult to work with.)
3. In three separate bowls, microwave all three candy melts individually in thirty-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely smooth. (I melted about five handfuls of each color.) Spoon the melted red candy first into the bottom of the cupcake liner, shaking the muffin tin as needed to distribute and spread the candy evenly. Repeat with the pink candy melts, spooning and spreading evenly on top of the red.
4. Take about 3/4 – 1 teaspoon of the Nutella filling and drop into the center of the cups. Cover with the melted white candy until flush with the tops of the liners. Decorate with sprinkles and refrigerate until completely chilled and hardened.

Pink Wafer Surprises

– white melting chocolate ( or whatever colour you would like)
– wafer cookies
– variety of Valentine’s Day sprinkles
– parchment or wax paper
You know what to do. Dip the wafers into chocolate, and sprinkle them with whatever you would like. All done; too easy :)

Ombré Cherries

1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Rinse cherries & pat dry. Split the chocolate chips into 4 small bowls.
2. Put a pot of water on medium heat until it is simmering. Place a metal bowl on top and pour in one bowl of white chocolate chips. Let heat for 2-3 minutes, and when the chocolate starts to glisten, stir continuously until chocolate is melted and smooth.
Remove from heat immediately and pour back into small bowl.
3. Add a small amount of food coloring (this will be your palest color) and stir thoroughly. Holding the cherries by the stem, dip them into the chocolate one at a time, and place onto the baking sheet to set.
4. Repeat with the other 3 bowls of chocolate, adding progressively more food coloring to each bowl. Put the baking sheet of cherries into the fridge to cool :)

Valentines Popcorn

Basically pop the popcorn, melt the white candy/chocolate, gently mix them together. I used my hands, clean hands, of course. If you’re using your hands to mix, be aware that melted candy coating is hot-ish. Not scalding mind you, but you’ll want to work swiftly. A large baking sheet worked great for a surface to combine the popcorn and melted candy. Once mixed, sprinkle with your valentines sprinkles before candy hardens. The fun never ends when sprinkles are involved.

I REALLY hoped you loved this post; and I wish you all a lovely Valentines day. I hope you spend the weekend with the ones you love. And keep my delicious Valentines treats in mind, just in case you have some time on your hands!!
Also, I WILL be posting in the half term, one on Tuesday and one on Saturday :)
LOVE U ALL!!
