Commandery

Hiii again, As you should know each week I like to do something different and this week Id thought id focus on a specific place in Worcester and I did some research and found out that the commandery is supposedly haunted.

The commandery is a 12th century  grade 1 listed building in Worcester. Its been used a church,Dwelling, monastic hospital, a hotel and today a museum. It was believed to be founded in the medieval times as a almshouse or hospice by the knights hospitaller.

In the Tudor era it became a family home to the Wyldes who were locally wealthy cloths merchants, In 1785 Thomas Wylde of Bridgnorth was the last Wylde to own the house.In 1651,during the English civil war, this was used by Charles II and the royalist as a headquarters during the battle of Worcester.
With such an eventful history no wonder it has a reputation for being very haunted. The most famous 'ghost' who is said to have haunted the commandery that dates back to the civil war.Royalist commander in the chief the duke of Hamilton was fatally wounded. He was taken back to the commandery and later died of his wounds. His ghost is said to haunt the solar room and his eerie death groans can be heard throughout the building on a quiet night.

Also, witnesses have seen ghostly apparitions of a hooded monk walking across the minstrels gallery. The Sound of ghostly armored men can also be heard outside the great hall.Whilst the upsetting sound of a phantom lady crying has been heard in the preacher room
I hope you have enjoyed this blog don’t be alarmed I've been in the commandery many times and there is nothing scary it has a lot of history of Worcester it’s a great place to go, but the ghosts will not at all harm you :)
